Milan Sightseeing – Aosta Valley Scenic Drive – Romano Canavese (Piedmont) (4 Nights)

This morning enjoy a city sightseeing tour of Milan with a Local Specialist. See the Gothic Duomo, one of the world's most impressive Gothic cathedrals, and La Galleria, an elegant arcade shopping gallery before free time to explore on your own. Perhaps stop by the Pirelli Tower to admire 1950s Modernist style, or see the medieval Castello Sforzesco. Later travel to the Aosta Valley, a dramatic mountainous region that borders France and Switzerland. Visit Fort Bard, built by the House of Savoy in the 19th century. The fortress replaced an even earlier castle which controlled the trade routes between France and Italy. It is now the Museum of the Alps and gives a fascinating insight into the region and its history. This evening check in to your stately hotel located in an 18th century villa for a relaxing four-night stay.Buffet Breakfast

Cherasco and Wine Tasting – La Morra Excursion

After a leisurely morning visit Cherasco, a town with medieval and baroque buildings. See the Salmatoris Palace and the impressive colonnades. The town is also famous for Baci de Cherasco, a traditional sweet made from chocolate and hazelnuts. Visit a local winery for an insight into the wine making process and taste the delicious wines of the region including Barolo. Later visit La Morra, a hilltop village with great views across the Piedmont region which is famous for its local chocolate and nougat.Buffet Breakfast

Asti Excursion

Visit Asti, a town dating back to pre-Roman times, synonymous with sparkling wine and historic palaces and towers. Enjoy an orientation where you will see the magnificent Romanesque Gothic Cathedrale di Santa Maria Assunta. Explore the Piazza San Secondo located in an old market piazza and the narrow cobbled streets and old wall of the medieval city. You'll also see the imposing remnants of what was once called 'The City of 100 Towers', of which only 12 actually still survive, including Torre Troyana, which is open to visitors. Turin Excursion

Your Local Specialist will take you on a sightseeing tour of the aristocratic and sophisticated city of Turin. Enjoy views of Italy's largest and most famous river, the Po. In Turin see the Antonelliana building and the Piazza San Carlo during your orientation tour. Visit Piazza San Carlo with its 17th century façades and the Church of San Lorenzo where a full scale picture of the famous Shroud of Turin is on display. Try the local Biscotti and Bicerin, a typical hot drink from Turin. Visit Europe's largest open air food market and sample local produce. During your free time why not visit the fascinating Cinema Museum or the newly refurbished Egyptian Museum, one of the most important ones outside of Cairo. Alternatively stroll along the elegant shopping streets of Via Roma and Via Garibaldi.Buffet Breakfast

Romano Canavese (Piedmont) – Lake Orta – Baveno (Lake Maggiore)
